Ruth Wimsatt Trautwein, CFP®

Director of Portfolio Management

Ruth has always had a passion for helping others and an acumen for finance. She joined SIA’s team in 2004, after graduating with dual degrees in International Business and Finance from Saint Louis University, where she was a member of their club crew team. Ruth began her career as a Research Associate, supporting SIA’s Research Team by implementing our proprietary research process and maintaining relationships with our investment managers. Realizing that she could make a greater impact by working directly with clients, in 2012 she transitioned into the role of portfolio manager. In 2020. Ruth was named Director of Portfolio  Management and consults with institutional, corporate, and individual clients. Ruth is also a member of SIA’s Investment Committee and heads the Client Development Committee.

Ruth is a shareholder of SIA and achieved the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) professional designation in 2007. She is a registered investment representative with the SEC under the terms of the Investment Advisory Act of 1940. She is a member of the Louisville Employee Benefits Council, the Financial Planning Association of Kentuckiana, and the Estate Planning Council of Metro Louisville.

Currently, Ruth is a board member and chair of the investment committee for The Kentucky Performing Arts Foundation. She also serves as a board member of the Louisville Orchestra's Endowment Fund. She is a graduate of Charles Schwab & Co.’s year-long Executive Leadership Program, Class of 2020, and graduated from Ignite Louisville in the Fall of 2014. Earlier in her career, she served on the board of the Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL) and the board of the Louisville Youth Choir from 2009 to 2019. She also served on the board for Women4Women.
